FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
Is The Quad a Crossfit gym?
Crossfit is a training philosophy that uses a wide variety of movements that are similar to those you use in everyday life. Although not a CrossFit affiliate, The Quad’s training philosophy aligns very closely. Our small group classes are designed to build strength, flexibility, and conditioning through highly varied and challenging workouts with the goal of helping our members improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness
How is this different from other gyms with personal training and small group classes?
The Quad gym is set up to be a tight knot, close community of support and encouragement to help each member hit their goals and strive for new ones! We pride ourselves in providing an intimate training experience in which you will be able to progress at your own pace while still being part of small group environment. We do not promote one size fits all training and each member has a customized program to meet their needs. You will find that The Quad’s workouts are constantly evolving and will keep you challenged throughout your fitness journey.
What does a typical small group class look like?
Our small group classes are anything but typical! Each class follows a structure that involves a mixture of skills, strength, and conditioning. They always start with a warm up based on that day’s work out. A warm up usually involves a dynamic element in order to prepare the mind and body for the work to come. After the warm up we will move into the workout which, depending on the day, may be strength based, cardiovascular conditioning, skills practice, or a great combination of all of these. We also spend time focusing on mobility and flexibility which will typically occur during our cool down at the end of class. Oh yeah, we have a lot of fun along the way!
What does training look like if I have an existing injury?
Whether you are an elite athlete, regular gym goer, or have never been in a gym, restrictions, limitation or injuries can be a part of everyday life. At The Quad each member’s experience begins with an assessment process to address previous or existing injuries and/or limitations so that the program is fitting for your goals. We want to provide a customized training program and that begins with getting to know you and your body. Here at The Quad we want to recognize and acknowledge how your body is feeling every time you step into the gym.
What if I am a total novice when it comes to lifting weights and my endurance isn’t so great? Is this gym still for me?
Being a Quad member does not require you to be a gym veteran or a pro at lifting weights. We meet you at your ability level. The workouts at The Quad are based on functional movements like squats, deadlifts, pushing/pulling and also incorporate gymnastic elements. All movements are scalable and customized to each member’s skill level.
